Bilindiği gibi her toplumda siyaset ve ideoloji diyalektik birlik içerisinde hareket eder. Her ikisi diğerine bağımlıdır. İdeoloji aracılığı ile siyaset, amaç ve fonksiyonlarını, siyasi çizgisini teorik olarak gerçekleştirir. “İdeoloji görüş ve düşünceler sistemi olarak, insanların gerçekliğe ve biribirine yaklaşımının anlaşılması ve değerlendirilmesidir. O farklı sınıfların, sosyal grupların, toplumun çıkarlarını ifade eder”. 20. yüzyılın ortalarından başlayarak üç esas ideoloji oluşmaya başlamıştır. Her üç ideoloji 20. yüzyılda gelişme dönemini yaşamıştır. 20. yüzyılın tarihi içeriği bu ideolojilerin mücadelesi ile açıklanır ve bu yüzyılın uluslararası, ekonomik, felsefi, kültürel kodlarını belirler. Her üç ideoloji modern çağa aittir ve ve onun ruhunu terennüm eder. Özellikle bu ideolojiler biribirlerine karşı olan, farklı düşünce sistemleridir. Bununla birlikte ideolojilerin kaynaklarının, köklerinin daha eski tarihlere sahip olduğunu belirtmek gerekir.
