| The sufi phenomenology of love based on the thoughts of rabia al-adawiyya and edith stein | International journal of islamic thought / International Journal of Islamic Thought /Cild: 18 səh: 27-33 | Konul Bunyadzade | 5 | 2020 |
This article contributes to research on the …
This article contributes to research on the consideration of the phenomenon of Love through a comparison of the thoughts of Sufi thinker Rabia al-Adawiyya (713-801) and phenomenological philosopher Edith Stein (1891-1942). The author studies the poems of Rabia and the final work of Edith Stein, where she discussed her views on divine love,“Science of Cross”. The main aim of the article is a search for the crossing point between Sufism and Phenomenology. The author considers three stages of phenomenological reduction: faith, hope and love. First, the heart is considered as a noematic core and the result of epoché. The second part of the article is an investigation into the second stage of phenomenological reduction, hope, which is studied as a transition between rational and irrational thoughts. In the third part of the article, divine love is investigated as a process of perfection in Sufism and of phenomenological reduction in phenomenology. In conclusion, the essence of love is presented on the basis of Sufi phenomenology, where the principles of Sufism and phenomenology are in contact. In other words, the consideration of love is a method of representing Sufi phenomenology as a new philosophical doctrine.

The article is dedicated to the philosophical …
The article is dedicated to the philosophical comparison between the two important directions of idea which belong to the East and West: between ‘unity of being’ (wahdat al-wujud) and logos of life. Firstly, we have briefly analyzed these philosophical concepts. Then we have presented wahdat al-wujud as an idea which stands at the beginning and the end of the creation process directed from One to plurality, and the logos of life as the creation energy of the cognition-creation process directed from subject to object: from the human being to Creator or to a creation. And has become clear that the logos of life is the life energy within the unity of being. On the basis of these considerations, we have also investigated the idea, which claims that the human being is matrix, from two aspects. On the one hand, the human being is viewed as a microcosm which stands at the opposite pole from the Creator, and on the other …

Mugham is a type of Azerbaijani musical …
Mugham is a type of Azerbaijani musical composition. There are different views on its origin. However, one cannot deny that Mugham is the basic foundation of folk and academic music in Azerbaijan. Referring to the fact that other Eastern nations also have various versions of mugham–such as Arabian maqams, Turkish makams, Uzbek and Tajik magoms, Uygur mukams etc.–one can hypothesize that mugham is the basis of oriental culture as a whole. It is not a coincidence that in 2003, UNESCO recognized Mugham as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In 1977, Mugham was sent to outer space by NASA amongst the other sounds electronically placed onboard the Voyager 1 (20 August) and 2 (5 September) which included 55 greetings in various languages; 27 of the world’s best music pieces such as Beethoven, Mozart and Stravinsky; national Japanese, Chinese and Australian music; as well as other original sounds. These different sounds and messages from Earth could be the connection between Outer Space and Earth–between the material world and beyond, between the past and future of humanity. Among them we can find mugham played on the balaban–a national Azerbaijani musical instrument. 1 Mugham has a whole complex system known as dastgah. It has its own beginning, culmination point and end. There are seven main modes of mugham and each of them is the expression of some feeling or state of the soul. Rast is the expression of bravery, Shur of the lyrical senses, Segah–of love, Shushter–of deep sadness, Chahargah–of excitement and passion etc. It is not defined by lyrics and …

In this tribute to Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, I …
In this tribute to Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, I examine whether phenomenology, as a cognitive enterprise of sentience, extends beyond the death of the physical body. The symphonic form of this paper is inspired by Tymieniecka’s Metaphysical Rhapsodies of Faith. The paper’s First Movement, Allegro, sets the stage by drawing distinctions between the concept of sentience in the Phenomenology of Life and that of the intentionality of consciousness as viewed in cognitive phenomenology with its strong Husserlian legacy. The Second Movement, Moderato, follows the thread of sentience in the labyrinth of life through the ontopoietic patterns of complexity and emergence in both animate and inanimate nature. The Third Movement, Minuet, shows the hylomorphic unity of sentience and patterns of complexity in the nonlinear dynamics of the brain, and discusses qualia of thought, and the informational patterns of …

Eco-imagination is the reflection of nature in …
Eco-imagination is the reflection of nature in human thinking. It is the human position concerning the subject–object. Therefore, this point embraces the level of thought, its relationship with nature, and the human ego. The chapter contains three parts. In the first part, we will define the place of man and nature in the hierarchy of creation. In Sufi phenomenology, the human is not a part of the environment such as minerals, plants, and animals but rather divine grading. Although the biological structure of a man is within the material world, he can rise beyond this frame along the line of hierarchy. Man is the creator and destroyer at the same time. In the second part of the chapter, we consider the role of eco-imagination in the development of human thinking. In Sufi phenomenology, every creature has a light. Unlike others, a man can increase his light due to his cognition. Thus, the perception and recognition of an object …

Sufi phenomenology is a new philosophical system …
Sufi phenomenology is a new philosophical system that embraces Sufism and Husserl’s phenomenology. Eidos is one of the basic principles of this system. It underlies philosophy both in the ontological and epistemological sense. We will consider only the ontological side of this term and compare the divine and human sides in this article. The article consists of seven sections, where we consider the new approach from different prisms. First, we research the ‘Eidos in the History of Philosophy’from Plato until Husserl. This philosophical and historical study of this term helps to analyze the need for a new approach. Eidos is an underused definition. The next section,‘Eidos in Sufi Phenomenology’, considers the opportunities to use both its initial mean and new perspectives. One of the principal questions in an ontological sense is creation. There are two kinds of creation in Sufi Phenomenology: Divine creation and human creativity. We will consider these concepts in the sections on ‘Divine Creation and Eidos’,‘Human Creativity and Eidos’, and on ‘Creation, Eidos, and Will’.

Ego is here considered from two perspectives: …
Ego is here considered from two perspectives: as the manifestation of divine wisdom and as the tipping point of external influences. Ego is the matrix of the human being. It looks like a stable core, protecting the being of the person. However, every internal and external influence is an impulse toward its next manifestation. Thus, in the first instance, Ego is the end of the divine line connecting God and human beings. It is the first to receive a divine message and interpret it. Ego is a door to the world of ideas and the divine sources of Truth. In the second instance, Ego is considered in the context of society, as personality is the manifestation or reaction of the Ego appropriating its environment.

By studying the history of philosophy since …
By studying the history of philosophy since ancient times one could come to the conclusion that the whole universe is the manifestation of an idea, a divine wisdom. The gist of this idea, which illuminates and directs thoughts, remains unchangeable and constant, though its form, style, method, language and religion, which find their expressions in different worldviews, could occasionally differ from each other. This ideational tradition, which has been passed from generation to generation in a certain sense, is defined by Seyyid Hossein Nasr as ‘truths or principles of a divine origin revealed or unveiled to mankind’ (Что такое традиция). According to the medieval Islamic thinker Ibn Miskawayh, this eternal philosophy that is known as al-hikma al-khalida (Javidan Khirad in Persian) in Islamic philosophy and perennial philosophy in the West as well as sanatana dharma in Hinduism, is ‘an eternal intelligence …

The Unity of Idea is one, simple …
The Unity of Idea is one, simple and indivisible. In this respect, the Unity of Idea could be compared with the point. At the same time, each man is unique individual in himself. He also creates within the limits of the power that the Absolute Creator has bestowed upon him. Although, as a material and spiritual being, he is the unity of several ideas, he is a carrier of the idea of one man as a whole. From this point of view, man also could be compared with the point. So it is possible to view the point from two perspectives: as the starting point and as the last point. This, in turn, means that although the point is simple, different approaches could explain the different aspects and essence of the point. The point will be explained from these two perspectives: as one idea, as the beginning of the creation process and as the particle which is contained in the essence of all beings. The point will be viewed as …

ABSTRACT Pantheist thinking in Islamic East and …
ABSTRACT Pantheist thinking in Islamic East and its adequacy to western pantheism is complicated and controversy problem. To make the problem somewhat clearer, it needs first of all to emphasize that it is possible to divide the development of the theories of world outlook and trends relied on essence of Koran’s esoteric meaning and religion towards inner world in Islamic East, into two direction: pantheist and “vahdat al‐vujud”. The trend, in organization and formation of which ismailism, hurufism, nogtavism played important role and some sects of tasavvuf considered to be heretic may be referred to the first orientation. As far as the second one, only tasavvuf may be referred to it. Though some issues, categories of each of them (orientations) seem alike at first sight, however there are the important differences in their fundamental principles from both ontological and epistemological points of view, it stipulated that …

The article considers a new, non-traditional form of dialogue: a dialogue between the Eastern spirit and Western thought. There are some thinkers in whose personality can be investigated the highest level of the dialogue between the East and West and can be cognized the Truth. The author comments on this type of dialogue on the basis of the ideas of Muhammad Iqbal. In other words, this is the dialogue in the inner world of a person who can unite the Eastern wisdom, faith and the Western thought. The article consists of two parts. Firstly, the author studies the essence of the Eastern spirit and the Western thought. The attention is focused on the role of faith in the formation of spirit and mind. | THE CONFLICTING IDEALS AND REALITY OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY RENAISSANCE IN THE EAST | THE PATH TO ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS THROUGH THE ASIAN COMMUNITY səh: 55 | Konul BUNYADZADE | 0 | 0 |
The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries …
The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries marked a second period of revival in several Eastern countries, which some researchers have even called a second Renaissance. Consequently, the twentieth century can be considered a continuation of this growth, featuring an abundance of new ideas and currents, enlightenment of the spirit, and a desire for originality. However, when analyzing this period, the increasing influence of Western thought, its largescale activity, and its nihilistic spirit must be assessed. This process of revival in the East reflects many specific elements of Western thought. This article presents the main features of this second Eastern Renaissance, which had two opposing effects: the formation of new criteria for perfection and the dissolution of previous values. Drawing from Indian, Russian, and Azerbaijani thinkers, three ideas guide this study not only from a philosophical perspective but also through the lens of politics and everyday life: Europeanization and the preservation of both national and religious values.

In a period of high development of …
In a period of high development of science and technology and new directions of thinking, new attitudes appear towards the problem of human being. The problem of man was reflected also in high and poetic and beautiful form in the outside of Jalaleddin Rumi Mewlana and we will try to present our new view of the problem of human being from his sufi prism. Tasavvuf as one of the methods of thinking researches the human as unity of spirit and body beyond the geographic regions (East-West) and religions, discovers the divine point in the human and his way to the universal harmony and divine unity. The Eastern, especially Islamic philosophy was a source of ideas for Western philosophy. Today for Western researches seeking humanity and high human qualities Jalaleddin Rumi Mewlana presents a perfect source and way to the perfection. Jalaleddin Rumi knew the Islamic principles very well, followed them censoriously, presented them by the language and light of tasavvuf–sensitive poetry and invite all human beings to exaltation and purity and perfection. Besides he had a divine light and illumination discovering irrational truth. Mawlana is an embodiment of perfect man not only for eastern man and Moslems, but also for western man and Christians.By retracing the development of irrational thinking in the context of the history of philosophy, in other words, the development of the searching of the truth using super-conscious methods, we may find the interesting and indisputable fact: from the time immemorial and hitherto the humanity is sanctified by the Divine Light, continuous, inextinguishable, unrelaxing. 1

It is an occasion to call frequently mugham ethnic or folk music. Referring to the fact that some other Eastern nations also has the various modes of mugham–Arabian maqams, Turkish makams, Uzbek and Tajik magoms, Uygur mukam and etc.–we can consider the mugham as the basis of the whole oriental culture. Not coincidentally that in 2003, UNESCO recognized mugham as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Mugham is a whole complex system–dastgah. It has own beginning, culmination moment and end. There are seven main modes of mugham and each of them is the expression of some feeling or a state of the soul. So, Rast is the expression of bravery, Shur-lyrical senses, Segah–love, Shushter–deep sadness, Chahargah–excitement and passion and etc. It is defined not only by lyrics and ghazals (an oriental poetic form), but mainly by the rhythms of mugham–music. It means that each mode of mugham requires an appropriate ghazal.

This article defends Sufism as a new method of philosophical counseling. Sufism considers the human being a unity of the spiritual and the material body. Consequently, the soul can be a necessary support in solving problems in material existence. The life of human beings consists of several gradually increasing circles. When a node forms on this line, it interferes with further movement. Sufism is a method that teaches how to get to the bottom of the problem and untie, not to cut, the knot. The author investigates the essence of every stage of the Sufi practice as steps in philosophical counseling. The main goal of philosophical counseling is to bring the counselee close to the soul in order to hear its voice. The philosophical counselor uses the Sufi states (haal) for it. The article concerns the philosophical interpretation of …
The article concerns the philosophical interpretation of letters in the poems of the great Azerbaijan poet Imaddaddin Nasimi. The study consists of 4 parts. First, the information about “Khuruf al-Mukatta’a” from Koran and from ancient wise ideas represented in the themes of poems by Khalladj Mansur and Nasimi has been expounded. A very important point stressed here is that the letters of language, which a person percieves the Truth and communicates with the Creator of Spirit in, also play a role of a key to the Divine Truth. The second part of the article is devoted to the question of what kind of truth is delivered by letters as it is expressed in Nasimi’s poems. The great poet used the method similar to method used in Holy Koran considering the letters as symbols. The study revealed that the poetry by Nasimi is a proclamation of the Mystery of letters from the beginning up to the end, and the poet is doing that in a logical way, referring to Koran and strictly following the spirit and the letter of Allah and His book. The third part of the article contains the discussion of the letters–Kaf-and–Nun-as being an expression of the process of creation. It is also marked here the fact that the matter is not only about the God but about a Man. Being a vicar of Creator a Man is a Creator too but within the frames and abilities established by the God. If a man was created by the force of Kaf and Nun the word is a creator of him and the meaning for creating of him as well. From this point, there are no limits for word. It can increase and reduce depending on measure of thinking. The last part represents the philosophical interpretation of the famous phrase “Ana al-Hakk” which …

The author finally analyzes every stage of the Sufi practice in the philosophi-cal counselling and investigates the essence of each of them. The main goal of philo-sophical counselling is to put the counselee face to face with his/her soul for hearing its voice. Consequently, the philosophical counselor uses the Sufi state of haal. Thus, the process begins from observation, continues through the nearness, fear, love, ho-pe, intimacy, tranquility and ends at certainty. The whole process of solution in the philosophical counseling is based on the main Sufi principles which are: ilm al-ya-qin (the Knowledge of Certainty),‘ayn al-yaqin (the Eye of Certainty) and Haqq al-yaqin (the Truth of Certainty).

In the article the TIME is considered in non-traditional context. The main aim of research is to seek the relation between the TIME and the IDEA and its influence to the life of the human being. The attention will be focused on the parallels between the now= an IDEA and the eternity= the world of IDEA s. Firstly, we will compare the thought of the Western and the Eastern philosophers on past-present-future and the horizontal and vertical TIME division. Inasmuch as the human being is the material and divine being, he should take it into consideration in his life. It will help him to discover new potential stages in his thought. It will also open a new view to the phenomenon of PRE-HUMAN and POST-HUMAN and his relation with the Logos or Divine world. Secondly, we will consider the process of development of the human being and construct a triangle IDEA-TIME-place. We will compare the thoughts of Mir Damad, Hiedegger and Salahaddin KHALILOV about the TIME It will light the process of transition of the human being from the TIME of the material world to the Universal TIME.
