On the basis of earthquake data, active tectonic faults or potential source zones in Shabran district and adjacent areas have been identified and their seismic potential has been assessed. It was revealed that, the maximum magnitude of the probable earthquakes in the zone of two large-sized active faults or potential source in the area close to the research area is Mmax= 7.4 and Mmax= 6.7, respectively. Seismic hazards may occur in conducted researches of the maximum magnitude earthquakes in this source zones. The earthquakes with maximum magnitude in this source zones can cause seismic hazards with an intensity of 8-9 points on the MSK-64 scale in the territory of “Takhtakorpu” reservoir where researches were conducted. The quality of cotton fiber depends on primary qualitative processing of raw cotton. One of the operations of cotton processing consists of cleaning cotton from various impurities such as small and large things like a heavy stone. Such extraneous things must be removed before ginning process. To separate the heavy things of cotton, stone catchers are needed, that is installed between separator and cotton gin. Constructions of stone catchers are in different form such as cylindrical, rectangular in pipe bends. Cotton from bale transported by air at high speed through pipelines with a diameter of 0.2-0.3 Air speed is 15-20 m/s. In the rotary section of the pipeline installed stone catchers. Due to centrifugal forces of inertia, heavy impurities separated from the cotton move to the working chamber and stone catcher. Convergence at rates of ∼10 mm/yr between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates is largely accommodated by the Kura fold‐thrust belt which stretches between central Azerbaijan and Georgia along the southern front of the Greater Caucasus (45–48°E). Although destructive historic earthquakes are known here, little is known about the active faults responsible for these earthquakes. A paleoseismic trench was excavated across a 2‐m‐high fault scarp near Agsu revealing evidence of two surface rupturing earthquakes. Radiocarbon dating of the faulted sediments limits the earthquake timing to AD 1713–1895 and AD 1872–2003. Here we present the results of the first paleoseismic study of the Kura fold-thrust belt in Azerbaijan. A single paleoseismic trench was excavated across a 2-m-high fault scarp near Agsu revealing evidence of two recent surface rupturing earthquakes. Radiocarbon dating of the faulted sediments places limits of earthquake timing of AD 1713-1895 and AD 1872-2003 for the two events. Allowing for uncertainties in radiocarbon dating, the two events likely correspond to historical destructive M~7 earthquakes near Shamakhi, Azerbaijan in AD 1668 and 1902. Holocene shortening and dip-slip rates for the Kura fold-thrust belt are 8 and 8.5 mm/yr, respectively, based on the depositional age of an abandoned uplifted strath terrace in a water gap to the west of Agsu. These rates should be treated as maxima, as they are ~100% of the previously determined structurally and geodetically measured shortening across the belt, and were measured from only one of two primary structures in this part of the belt. The lack of reported historical ruptures from the past 8 centuries to the west of Agsu, in contrast with the numerous recorded destructive earthquakes of the Shamakhi region, suggests that the central and western parts of the Kura fold-thrust belt produce less frequent, but more destructive earthquakes, and may have accumulated sufficient strain to produce a M>8 earthquake. In the article, it is noted that the value of the average transverse wave speed parameter varies between 400-515 m/s in the seismic profiles developed in the waste and landslide areas of Dashkasan skarn-iron ore group beds up to a depth of 30 m. In the left wing of the resulting landslide, a geological disturbance was determined in the direction of the fault-falling layer. A layer with a low transverse wave speed (350- 441 m/s) is observed in the landslide area in seismic profiles No. 4 and 5 at a depth of 30-44, 30-47 m, respectively. This layer is assumed to be a clay layer. Inside the clay layer, a lens with a value of transverse wave speed varying between 263-351 m/s is observed. It is assumed that this lens has a layer of watery clay and the sliding plane corresponds to this layer. 2. In the direction of Mollahasanli village, a layer with low transverse wave speed (305-425 m/s) is observed at a depth of 30-45 m, and a lens with low wave speed is not observed inside this layer. From this point of view, the current condition of the retaining dam is considered stable compared to the landslide area. 3. In the waste and landslide area of Dashkasan skarn - iron ore group beds, the geodynamic regime was evaluated, the tension dynamics of the gravity and geomagnetic field were studied, and tectonic fault zones were found. These areas are assumed to be prone to landslides. 4. In the area of the new landfill, the observed gravity and geomagnetic stress are at background levels. Были отобраны и исследованы около 700 образцов пород, взятых с разных глубин с охватом всей эффективной площади разрабатываемых месторождений «Шахтахты»(травертины)«Маяк»(известняк). ИВ геологическом строении месторождения Шахтахты принимают участие осадочные породы постплиоценового возраста, представленные B основном травертиновыми образованиями, налегающие на отложения верхнего сармата. Травертиновые отложения, мощностью 15-20 м, протягиваются узкой (0, 5-1, 5 км) почти непрерывной полосой в северо-восточном направлении от с. Шахтахты до с. Карабаглар. Эксплуатационные запасы их составляют более 10 млн. м³. Результаты обработки проведенных исследований свидетельствуют об изменении основных физико-механических свойств, определяемых по ГОСТам 7025-78, 8462-85 и 6427-75 в широком диапазоне. В табл. 1 включены данные определений наиболее характерных параметров, в качестве которых были использованы образцы с ненарушенной в процессе обработки структурой.
