Cotinus coggygria extract has been used as a dye for silk, wool and leather in Eurasia, including Azerbaijan, since ancient times. In order to be an artisanal staining of these products it is used raw–crude extract of fisetin obtained from the wood of smoke trees. To obtain a uniform color in certain product batches a dyeing bath with a certain density of fisetin is prepared. Our experiments show that in the spectrum of the crude extract fisetin in 95% ethanol, there are two characteristic UV/VIS bands. The band of the first group located, with a maximum of about 314 nm, arising from the B ring, the second–with a maximum around 412 nm arising from the A ring. This gives us reason to say that in order to establish the amount of fisetin in the dye solution, one of the earliest methods of ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy can be successfully used.

Sericulture is one of the important potential agro-based rural industries in the world. It is an important means for generating employment, income enhancement crop enterprises, and is a most appropriate household activity. So, the development of sericulture is a particular importance in our Republic. This article analyzed that socio-economic development through sericulture sector in the world and in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan silk has repeatedly won several awards and gold medals at exhibitions. For centuries silk has brought considerable income to the country, but for the past several years, the production went into decline. Sericulture industry is facing many problems like high cost of production, limited production of local of yarn and depending on the imported yarn to produce silk fabrics etc. Today, there are great opportunities for the development of sericulture in Azerbaijan. However, it is not fully used from existing opportunities and potentials to increase its efficiency and the growth and development of silkworm breeding by intensive ways. Thus, by the way of the extensive use of existing scientific and technical achievements requires special preparation of the intensification of cocoon production. In this regard, the article investigated the development history of silkworm in the region and production indicators were analyzed, future development directions were investigated. This paper is mainly concerned with socio economic development, employment generation and sericulture sector activities in the region.

The northwestern region of Azerbaijan presents an excellent setting for sericulture and cocoon production, driven by its rich natural resources and suitable climate. By adopting a clustering model to advance these industries, production efficiency can be greatly improved, along with the creation of new job opportunities. Clusters promote cooperation between businesses and research institutions, enabling the sharing of knowledge and expertise. This strategy not only offers technical and financial assistance to farmers but also promotes the use of innovative technologies in cocoon production. Furthermore, clustering boosts the marketability of local products, resulting in additional employment in sericulture and cocoon production. Increased job opportunities foster socio-economic development in the region, leading to beneficial social changes through enhanced economic activity. Thus, clustering is vital for the growth of sericulture and cocoon production in Azerbaijan's northwestern area.Given the significant growth potential in these sectors, a SWOT analysis was performed to evaluate their development. Changes in the quantity and quality of cocoon production from 2018 to 2023 were analyzed through clustering methods. As a result, specific clusters and sub-clusters were identified, and for the first time, a monomorphic logistic model was created for implementing clustering in sericulture and cocoon production. Additionally, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the current technological landscape of cocoon production in the region, the government’s role in the sector, and socio-economic factors affecting employment.
