The creative work of the writer involved in the research was investigated for the first time based on the materials translated from the original into Azerbaijani. The main themes of Wang Meng's works contain intelligentsia and party workers, the departure of consciousness from dogmas and making way for new ideas, personality development and etc. Open didacticism and sketchiness are the main features of his stories. His works reveal deep themes that are distinguished by their relevance. Wang Meng's stories" The depth of the lake"," Looking for the lake"," Dreams about the sea"," The bush" and other works included in the study, reflect important issues.

Design. All the research works on butterfly archetypes in Azerbaijan, and Chinese literature was searched, and in the study, a comparative research method was used. Article Classification. This paper could be categorized as a Literature review or General review. Practical Implication. The results of the research can be applied to the archetypal comparative study of Azerbaijani and Chinese literature. The research is also regarded as a first step in studying Chinese archetypes' influence on Azerbaijani literature.Originality. The paper is the first attempt at a comparatively systematized study of Azerbaijani and Chinese literature.Findings. The comparison of archetypes to other cultures makes up the basis of global culture. This also proves that the basis of all cultures is taken from one culture—the contradictory issues of the archetype of Butterfly in Azerbaijan literature involved in the research. At the same time, scientific ideas and considerations of famous researchers have been paid attention too.
