Atif İslamzadə Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının Folklor İnstitutunun Mərasim folkloru şöbəsində aparıcı elmi işçi vəzifəsində çalışan filologiya üzrə fəlsəfə doktoru, dosentdir. Onun elmi fəaliyyəti əsasən folklor, ədəbiyyat və mifologiya sahələrini əhatə edir, xüsusilə Oğuz epik ənənəsi, Dədə Qorqud kitabı və Azərbaycan folklorunun müxtəlif aspektləri üzərində qurulub.
Tədqiqatlarında Oğuz epik sistemindəki personajların, xüsusilə Salur Qazan obrazının mifoloji və tarixi təcəssümü, Dədə Qorqud kitabında ritual, mərasim və dövlətçilik anlayışları, həmçinin folklorun yazılı ədəbiyyatla əlaqəsi diqqət mərkəzindədir. Elmi işləri ardıcıl olaraq müxtəlif dövrlərdə formalaşan tədqiqat istiqamətlərini əks etdirir: erkən dövrlərdə epik ənənənin tədqiqi, sonrakı illərdə mifoloji, ritual və mərasim mövzularına yönəlmə, və müasir dövrdə folklorun ədəbi, tarixi və sosial kontekstlərdə araşdırılması.
Ən çox istinad alan əsərləri arasında "Epik Gelenekte Salur Kazan Karakteri Salur’un Kendi Rolünde" (2011, 3 sitat) və "“Qazan xan epik düşüncə və tarixi gerçəklikdə”" (2005, 2 sitat) xüsusi diqqət çəkir. Bu işlərdə Salur Qazan obrazının epik və tarixi cəhətləri dərin təhlil edilərək folklorşünaslıqda yeni perspektivlər təqdim olunur. Digər mühüm əsərlərə "Dədə Qorqud kitabı”nda “Qalmış yigit arxası” təyini mərasim faktoru olan xan statusunun göstəricisi kimi" (2023) və "Teoloji inanc sistemi aspektində Novruz mərasimləri" (2023) daxildir, hansı ki, aktual mövzulara yanaşaraq elmi yenilik və praktik əhəmiyyət daşıyır.
Nəşr spektrinə 59 elmi məqalə daxildir, o cümlədən müxtəlif milli və beynəlxalq elmi jurnallarda, konfrans materiallarında və digər nəşrlərdə dərc olunmuş işlər. Elmmetrik göstəricilərə görə, Google Scholar-də 5 ümumi sitat, h-index 2, i10-index 0 qeydə alınıb.
Atif İslamzadə öz elmi fəaliyyəti ilə Azərbaycan folklorşünaslığının inkişafına əhəmiyyətli töhfələr verir və institusional tədqiqatların aparıcı nümayəndələrindəndir.

This research work was formed on the basis of a special methodology. Thus, since the general approach to folklore genres and examples of written literature has become traditional, research on the basis of such a specific folklore text as the tale “Malikmahammad” in this study is very important from a scientific-theoretical point of view. In the research work, after presenting the traditional-descriptive plot of the tale, the focus was on the study of semantic functional layers. Even up to this research work, the motif of “apple” is investigated on the basis of genres. However, the originality of the study is that until this work, such a functional and anachronistic structure of the motif “apple” has not been studied at this level. The study of the motif “apple” in an unconventional form further increased the value of this study, leaving no doubt that it would play an important role in the formation of a new complex of views in the scientific environment. In the semantic study of the tale, it was clarified that the motif “apple” appears as a structural unit that connects the events and concepts arising throughout the entire tale as a chain link. At the same time, the motif “apple”, which is even in semantic studies, is a traditional motif. In this research work, however, it is observed as the untraditional motif. Thus, narrative motifs such as the theft of apples by the demon, Malikmahammad’s wounding of the demon, his descent into the dark world to kill the demon and his eventual defeat of these creatures are not merely interpreted as representations of the hero’s alignment with the sacred versus the profane, or the cosmic versus the chaotic, rather, they are marked as instances in which …

In this study the motif of crane in folklore and written literature is investigated. It has been considered that the image of the crane is not an accidental image, but is actually observed as a motive present in many literary examples. Thus, the eposes such as “Ag Ashiq and Susanbar”, “Koroglu”, “Asli and Karam”, the quatrains “Cranes” by Molla Veli Vidadi, Molla Panah Vagif, Gasim bey Zakir have been investigated from this aspect. It is interesting that the poem was written mainly in abroad and through this motif the longing for the motherland or the love of the rest of the native land was expressed. Even poems that were not written in expatriation reflected an inner sense of expatriation. So, the lyrical hero reciting this poem feels himself in the strange place, expresses this motif in loneliness. However, the majority of poems on this topic are written only abroad, which characterizes the motif of the poems called “Cranes”. Here it is pointed out that this motive is involved in the entire literary and cultural boundaries of written and oral literature. In addition, the specific specificity of this motif has been clarified. It may also be of interest to the scientific audience as a new presentation of the study, in which artistic-literary examples form a mathematical model, are located in our thinking as a mathematical structure, but are revealed as artistic expression. Because the existence of the mathematical model in literary works also realizes the importance of integrating world sciences. In this study Novruz rituals are investigated in the aspect of the theological beliefs system.It can be said that the research in this direction is the first work in Novruz-study. Here it is explained on the basis of sources and evidence that the Novruz ceremony is notable for carrying the belief in Allah as a belief system at its root. In the pre-Islamic period God manifests as the same meaningful word as the belief in Allah in the Islamic era. Bringing pagan tendencies to this ritual at different times has not been able to overshadow the belief of Allah. In addition, the fact that Novruz is not a religious holiday, but a spring holiday, a holiday of nature and a culture of agriculture does not deny the belief in Allah. Because the holiday held as an act of creation is still noticeable through prayer and applause to the Creator. In other words, Novruz is the greatest cultural event to be explored in terms of the theological belief system.

In the article the formation of the mythological concepts, their presence in the texts, the wide place of the misconceptions in the field of mythology are investigated. At the same time instead of accepted mythological and historical consciousness the historical myth and epic myth terms are proposed to the scientific community.On the basis of structure and poetics of mythological imaginations it was explained that myths originate from a Single Belief system, they speak about the Creator, creation, the Single mission that comes from the beginning to the end.However, as the basis of the myth was partially distorted by the narrators, false conclusions also appeared. This study is completely new in science and can become a source of use for further research.

This research work was formed on the basis of a special methodology. Thus, since the general approach to folklore genres and examples of written literature has become traditional, research on the basis of such a specific folklore text as the tale “Malikmahammad” in this study is very important from a scientific-theoretical point of view. In the research work, after presenting the traditional-descriptive plot of the tale, the focus was on the study of semantic functional layers. Even up to this research work, the motif of “apple” is investigated on the basis of genres. However, the originality of the study is that until this work, such a functional and anachronistic structure of the motif “apple” has not been studied at this level. The study of the motif “apple” in an unconventional form further increased the value of this study, leaving no doubt that it would play an important role in the formation of a new complex of views in the scientific environment. In the semantic study of the tale, it was clarified that the motif “apple” appears as a structural unit that connects the events and concepts arising throughout the entire tale as a chain link. At the same time, the motif “apple”, which is even in semantic studies, is a traditional motif. In this research work, however, it is observed as the untraditional motif. Thus, narrative motifs such as the theft of apples by the demon, Malikmahammad’s wounding of the demon, his descent into the dark world to kill the demon and his eventual defeat of these creatures are not merely interpreted as representations of the hero’s alignment with the sacred versus the profane, or the cosmic versus the chaotic, rather, they are marked as instances in which …

In this study the motif of crane in folklore and written literature is investigated. It has been considered that the image of the crane is not an accidental image, but is actually observed as a motive present in many literary examples. Thus, the eposes such as “Ag Ashiq and Susanbar”, “Koroglu”, “Asli and Karam”, the quatrains “Cranes” by Molla Veli Vidadi, Molla Panah Vagif, Gasim bey Zakir have been investigated from this aspect. It is interesting that the poem was written mainly in abroad and through this motif the longing for the motherland or the love of the rest of the native land was expressed. Even poems that were not written in expatriation reflected an inner sense of expatriation. So, the lyrical hero reciting this poem feels himself in the strange place, expresses this motif in loneliness. However, the majority of poems on this topic are written only abroad, which characterizes the motif of the poems called “Cranes”. Here it is pointed out that this motive is involved in the entire literary and cultural boundaries of written and oral literature. In addition, the specific specificity of this motif has been clarified. It may also be of interest to the scientific audience as a new presentation of the study, in which artistic-literary examples form a mathematical model, are located in our thinking as a mathematical structure, but are revealed as artistic expression. Because the existence of the mathematical model in literary works also realizes the importance of integrating world sciences. In this study Novruz rituals are investigated in the aspect of the theological beliefs system.It can be said that the research in this direction is the first work in Novruz-study. Here it is explained on the basis of sources and evidence that the Novruz ceremony is notable for carrying the belief in Allah as a belief system at its root. In the pre-Islamic period God manifests as the same meaningful word as the belief in Allah in the Islamic era. Bringing pagan tendencies to this ritual at different times has not been able to overshadow the belief of Allah. In addition, the fact that Novruz is not a religious holiday, but a spring holiday, a holiday of nature and a culture of agriculture does not deny the belief in Allah. Because the holiday held as an act of creation is still noticeable through prayer and applause to the Creator. In other words, Novruz is the greatest cultural event to be explored in terms of the theological belief system.

In the article the formation of the mythological concepts, their presence in the texts, the wide place of the misconceptions in the field of mythology are investigated. At the same time instead of accepted mythological and historical consciousness the historical myth and epic myth terms are proposed to the scientific community.On the basis of structure and poetics of mythological imaginations it was explained that myths originate from a Single Belief system, they speak about the Creator, creation, the Single mission that comes from the beginning to the end.However, as the basis of the myth was partially distorted by the narrators, false conclusions also appeared. This study is completely new in science and can become a source of use for further research.
