Since the early 20th century, the ancient Azerbaijani land of Zangazur was gradually hand-ed over to Armenia. The people of Zangazur have always been hardworking, engaged in animal husbandry, agriculture, and sericulture. By the decree of the Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, dated July 7, 2021, the Eastern Zangazur economic region was established. This decree restored the historical name of Zangazur to geographical and administrative maps once again. Like other regions of Azerbaijan, Zangazur is rich in folklore.The folklore treasury of ancient Zangazur is also remarkable for the diversity of its ceremo-nies, customs, and traditions. As in other parts of the country, Novruz Bayram is celebrated in Zangazur with great enthusiasm and festivity. Ceremonies reflect the historical heritage and identi-ty of every nation. Therefore, preserving them is essential for strengthening national unity and safeguarding cultural heritage. It is the duty of every Azerbaijani citizen to keep these values alive.

Folkloric examples collected from Nakhchivan feature numerous proverbs, beliefs, oaths, blessings, and curses related to bread.

Nakhchivan, the most ancient region of Azerbaijan, stands out with its unique and rich cus-toms and traditions. Many customs and traditions have been preserved in Nakhchivan from the past to the present day. One such tradition is winter preparation. Cutting erishte (noodles), cooking govurma (fried meat), preparing qurut (dried fermented milk product), gathering and drying herbs, preparing both dried fruits and various juices, jams, doshabs (fruit or berry molasses), and so on, are among the unforgettable customs that are still kept alive in Nakhchivan today. These traditions, as a part of rural life, are of great importance in terms of people helping one another and strengthening neighborhood and kinship ties. It is vital to preserve, sustain, and pass on these traditions to the new generation as both material and moral heritage.

Proverbs and sayings, proverbial phrases, aphorisms have always attracted the attention of the prominent representatives of written literature. A great number of proverbs and sayings can be found in the works of Khagani, Khatai, Fuzuli, Vagif, Zakir, MF Akhundov, J. Memmedguluzade, A. Hagverdiyev, Sabir and other classical writers. Nizami Ganjavi proverbial phrases, aphorisms, sayings and proverbs in his works, sometimes kept the original forms, sometimes made changes in a certain way. For this reason, the artistic impact of his poems has increased significantly. These folklore examples made his works more readable and memorable.

The folklore of each region preserves the history of that region. Although centuries have passed, folklore cannot be erased from memory. Therefore, the study and research of the folklore of each region is of particular importance. The folklore of Western Azerbaijan has been preserved in memory to this day. The motifs of longing for the homeland, relative to the homeland, foreignness, and strangeness occupy one of the leading places in Western Azerbaijani bayats. Caves, ancient human camps, forts, caravansaries, bridges, horse and ram statues, sanctuaries in Western Azerbaijan prove that this is an ancient Turkish homeland.

The reflection of folk customs, ceremonies, holidays, faith and beliefs in poetry is one of the key elements demonstrating the artist's connection with oral folk literature. The traditions associated with the wedding have always been existed among the people and have acquired a wide social content. In addition to the wedding, in Nizami Ganjavi's poems we come across other cere-monies reflecting folk traditions. They were described in poems written by the poet about mourn-ing. Such scenes as the mourning customs of the Azerbaijani people, as holding a funeral ceremo-ny, making a will, are found in some parts of his poems–on the occasion of the death of Farhad, Khosrov, Leyli, Iskandar, Makhinbanu, Bahram, Dara.

Müasir ədəbiyyat öz inkişafı boyu xalqın bədii yaddaşına, folklora söykənir, onun bədii təcrübəsindən bəhrələnir. Xalqın folklor təfəkkürü mənəvi tərəqqinin əsasıdır. Bütün dünya ədəbiyyatının şəhdi-şirəsi, gözəlliyi məhz onun şifahi ədəbi irsindən qaynaqlanır. Təsadüfi deyil ki, böyük söz sənətkarları şifahi xalq ədəbiyyatı ilə həmişə mütəqabil surətdə bağlı olmuşlar. Onlar öz yaradıcılığında folklordan istifadə etdiyi kimi, özləri də həmin ədəbiyyat xəzinəsinə, şifahi xalq yaradıcılığına təsir göstərmişlər. Dünyanın folklora qayıdışı ilkinliyə, təmizliyə, paklığa dönüş kimi qiymətləndirilir. Bu qanunauyğun ənənənin XX əsr Azərbaycan ədəbiyyatındakı təsiri qabarıq surətdə özünü büruzə vermişdir. Azərbaycan yazıçıları da folklordan yaradıcı şəkildə istifadə etməklə qiymətli ədəbi nümunələr yaratmışlar. Dastanlarımızda xalq öz igidlərini sevə-sevə tərənnüm edir, onların vətən, torpaq təəsübkeşliyini qəhrəmanlıq boyaları ilə təsvir edir, düşmənə qələbə çalmaq yollarını öyrədirdi. Klassiklərimizdən tutmuş müasir sənətkarlarımızın yaradıcılığına nəzər salsaq şahidi olarıq ki, dastanlardan istifadə onların əsərlərinin dolğun və kaloritli olmasına zəmin yaratmışdır. Qəhrəmanlıq dastanlarında xalqın həyatı ilə bağlı tarixi hadisələrdən, onun haqq-ədalət və azadlıq uğrunda apardığı mübarizədən bəhs olunur. Belə dastanların qəhrəmanları xalq içərisindən çıxmış mərd və igid insanlar olur. Ən məşhur qəhrəmanlıq dastanları “Kitabi Dədə Qorqud”,“Koroğlu” və “Qaçaq Nəbi” dir. Nakhchivan, the most ancient region of Azerbaijan, stands out with its unique and rich cus-toms and traditions. Many customs and traditions have been preserved in Nakhchivan from the past to the present day. One such tradition is winter preparation. Cutting erishte (noodles), cooking govurma (fried meat), preparing qurut (dried fermented milk product), gathering and drying herbs, preparing both dried fruits and various juices, jams, doshabs (fruit or berry molasses), and so on, are among the unforgettable customs that are still kept alive in Nakhchivan today. These traditions, as a part of rural life, are of great importance in terms of people helping one another and strengthening neighborhood and kinship ties. It is vital to preserve, sustain, and pass on these traditions to the new generation as both material and moral heritage.

Proverbs and sayings, proverbial phrases, aphorisms have always attracted the attention of the prominent representatives of written literature. A great number of proverbs and sayings can be found in the works of Khagani, Khatai, Fuzuli, Vagif, Zakir, MF Akhundov, J. Memmedguluzade, A. Hagverdiyev, Sabir and other classical writers. Nizami Ganjavi proverbial phrases, aphorisms, sayings and proverbs in his works, sometimes kept the original forms, sometimes made changes in a certain way. For this reason, the artistic impact of his poems has increased significantly. These folklore examples made his works more readable and memorable.

Therefore, the study and research of the folklore of each region is of particular importance. The folklore of Western Azerbaijan has been preserved in memory to this day. The motifs of longing for the homeland, relative to the homeland, foreignness, and strangeness occupy one of the leading places in Western Azerbaijani bayats. Caves, ancient human camps, forts, caravansaries, bridges, horse and ram statues, sanctuaries in Western Azerbaijan prove that this is an ancient Turkish homeland.

Samples of folk art, found in the works of the brilliant poet, clearly expressed the faith, worldview, psychology, attitude of the Azerbaijani people to various events. Samples of folk art lived in the work of Nizami Ganjavi, were not forgotten and have survived to this day.

The reflection of folk customs, ceremonies, holidays, faith and beliefs in poetry is one of the key elements demonstrating the artist's connection with oral folk literature. The traditions associated with the wedding have always been existed among the people and have acquired a wide social content. In addition to the wedding, in Nizami Ganjavi's poems we come across other cere-monies reflecting folk traditions. They were described in poems written by the poet about mourn-ing. Such scenes as the mourning customs of the Azerbaijani people, as holding a funeral ceremo-ny, making a will, are found in some parts of his poems–on the occasion of the death of Farhad, Khosrov, Leyli, Iskandar, Makhinbanu, Bahram, Dara.
